I have to say, i was pleasantly surprised when i saw this. I had no idea what the plot was except the fact it was based on a Novel Series.
When i started watching it, the first episode was not my favorite, especially the first half of it, but when we saw the other side, then my interest peaked. Apparently, it is also adapting another book series that takes place in this same universe, Six of Crows.
And that story is the reason i stick around after the first episode. Or most of the series as i found the main plot mediocre compared to this. Even the characters were much more unique, interesting, intriguing, and fun.
My favorite is Jasper played by Kit Young, he looks like he was born to play this role, everything about him is fantastic, and his fighting? his guns? He’s the best slinger you can find.
If we go back to the main plot, it was fine, good enough to keep you engage, but nothing special, or out of the ordinary. Seriously, there’s 4 stories, 1 main, 2 sub, and 1 minor, going on at the same time, and all but the main one is exciting and intriguing.
But the main villain, Darkling, he was a cool guy, he’s motives were understandable, he’s actions maked sense, and he almost fooled me in believing he is the hero of this.
Our Main heroine, Alena – i think is her name – is not something special as a character wise, but as the story wise, she’s a saint. And while her character is good enough, she wasn’t able to take the spotlight, even in the scenes focused on her, you would be more interested in the side-characters, or the stuff that’s going in around her, instead of which is on her.
Pacing wise, i feel like it became fast paced once, and slow paced next, it was inconsistent, atleast that’s what i feel, but it wasn’t that noticeable.
I also know that this had Series original Ending, which was a nice and good way to end this off. I just wished Darkling would have died in the Fold, but he didn’t.
So yeah, i could go on in the spoilers but, i don’t think i will. I will see you guys soon. Next Time.
